Box Moor Trust
Ever fancied having a go at trying your hand at a new craft or skill?  Here is your chance.  The Box Moor Trust are putting on a series of workshops on a wide variety of topics relating to the land.  Choose from crafts and skills such as felting or bee keeping.  Each session is on a Saturday and meets from 10 - 4 unless stated, for more information please click here.

Do you want to learn the ancient skills of weaving?  Come along on Saturday 26th May 10am to 4pm to learn how to set up and use a heddle loam and transform fibres such as wool or silk into your very own woven item.  To cover costs a donation of £30 plus £7 for materials of your woven item will be asked for.  Please call 01442 253300 or email joannashelton@boxmoortrust.org.uk for details and a booking form.

We offer a range of creative and changing programme of arts and craft short courses for adults, untutored life drawing  (monthly) and portrait drawing (weekly) opportunities and friendly personalized computer basics courses for beginners and those with some experience, some examples of the latter are listed below:

Open Doors Project/ ECDL / Online CV, Jobhunting and Interview Skills
Are you unemployed or looking for work after a break?

Our OPEN DOORS project can offer you FREE training in a variety of skills, including computer basics, European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), creative crafts, building maintenance, assisting tutors and trainers, and helping to set up exhibitions and displays.

If you need help with writing your cv, applying for jobs online, interview skills, and building confidence - we can offer this too.  And we can include work experience, to develop your skills, and add to your cv.

Each person has their own individual plan, but you will probably be on the project for about 4 weeks, attending Frogmore Mill for one or two half days per week. This project finishes in May 2012, so contact us soon to discuss what you'd like to do

Three Villages Children's Centre


Three Villages Children’s Centre and Heath Lane Children’s Centre, in conjunction with the WEA are running a Practical Parent Helper Course.  It is for adults with children aged 3-7 who want to learn how to help children learn. This could be their own children or in a school setting. It suitable for those who may in the future wish to volunteer or work in a school. (Not suitable for people already working in a  school).
 
It is 9.30-11.30 on Tuesdays 10th,17th,24th, 31st January and 7th Feb and is being held in The Red Lion Function Room in Nash Mills.  To apply phone 01923 481670 – which is Three Villages CC or 01442 261043 which is Heath Lane CC.

South Hill Centre

Free Craft Workshops for adults (Crèche available) - Wednesdays 9.30am-11.30am @ South Hill Centre
 
South Hill Centre is running a weekly drop-in craft workshop – starting on Weds Jan 11th 2012. Each week will focus on a different craft theme e.g. cards, beads, fabrics, jewellery making etc. Classes will be free of charge although donations towards cost of materials would be appreciated. Free Crèche places available for children under 5, although pre-booking is essential.

Dacorum Communities for Learning (DCFL)

DCFL's Computer Access and Internet Cafe's - Need help or have a question?  Having trouble with a document or photographs?  Are you a bit nervous using the computer and just need a little guidance.  Computer broken or dont have one but would like to access one?  Just pop into one of the Internet Cafes associated with DCFL and a volunteer will help you out.  You can use one of the computers provided or if you prefer you can bring your own laptop in to use.  There is access at Warners End, Gadebridge, Highfield, Bennetts End and Tring.  Days and times available from DCFL on 01442 251930 or from individual centres.

Taster Sessions-
 Celebrating 50 Years of education.

·  Taster activities for the public to come and have a go  eg: floristry, photography, face painting.  As it is Adult Learners’ week this will be the focus.
